Improved opportunities for exhibitors, trade visitors, and institutional stakeholders in Greece and Bulgaria are at the core of an agreement signed by the Thessaloniki-based exhibition organiser HELEXPO and the Bulgarian-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BHCCI).
The agreement was signed by HELEXPO chief executive Andreas Mavrommatis and BHCCI president Savvas Karafyllidis, as part of efforts to bolster commercial and economic ties between the two countries through the exhibition sector. It follows previous institutional efforts to strengthen bilateral ties, including cross-border economic activity and mobility patterns between northern Greece and Bulgaria, as well as initiatives aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and business exchanges in south-eastern Europe.
According to a HELEXPO announcement, this contract establishes a framework for cooperation, with the roadmap focusing on several targeted areas. These include the organisation of reciprocal trade missions linked to sectoral exhibitions, with both sides supporting official business and institutional delegations. The partners also plan to exchange know-how and best practices, particularly in digital tools, sustainability approaches, and strategies to improve visitor engagement.
Further provisions include co-organising business-to-business (B2B) meetings, thematic seminars, and conference panels to highlight investment opportunities in the two markets. The agreement also includes mutual promotion of exhibition events through each organisation's networks, as well as the provision of physical promotional spaces such as information booths at selected fairs.
In addition, the framework supports bilateral investment through closer links with government bodies and matchmaking programmes to facilitate commercial partnerships. It also covers institutional cooperation through data exchange, technical collaboration between staff, and joint communication initiatives aimed at enhancing business impact in South-Eastern Europe.
According to the announcement, the partnership forms part of the organisation's broader internationalisation strategy and reflects its stated commitment to building collaborations that support outward-oriented business activity.
