Strong investor interest has prompted a second extension to the international tender for the redevelopment of the Kalamaria tourist marina in Thessaloniki, one of northern Greece's most prominent waterfront projects. The new deadline follows continued demand to participate in the upgrade of Aretsou Marina, a key coastal site in the city's eastern district of Kalamaria.
The state-owned Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations, commonly known as the Growthfund, announced on Monday that the deadline for submitting expressions of interest for the redevelopment of Aretsou Marina has been pushed back to 31 March 2026 at 15:00 Greek time.
The redevelopment aims to transform the facility into a modern marina and leisure destination, strengthening the city's maritime tourism offer and waterfront economy. The project forms part of broader efforts to modernise coastal infrastructure around Thessaloniki and attract private investment into tourism and waterfront development across northern Greece.
The international tender was originally launched on 15 December 2025, with a first extension moving the submission deadline to 11 March 2026. According to the announcement, the new extension was granted following requests from interested investors, as had also been the case with the initial postponement.
In a statement, the Growthfund said it had decided "to extend the Submission Deadline […] for the Expression of Interest until 31 March 2026 at 15:00 (Greece time, UTC+2)". The organisation clarified that supporting documents issued up to 30 calendar days before the original submission deadline, namely 27 February 2026, will remain valid.
Applicants who had already submitted an expression of interest by that earlier date will be required to file a sworn declaration confirming that "all information, statements, documents and accompanying materials […] are true, valid and accurate and that no changes have occurred since their issuance". All other terms and conditions of the tender remain unchanged.
